Jesse Owens won his first Olympic gold medal

On August 3, 1936, Jesse Owens won his first Olympic gold medal in the 100m at the Berlin Olympics.

Jesse Owens and the Berlin Olympics have always held historical significance, in large part due to Adolf Hitler’s history of racism and nazism. Owens died in 1980 at the age of 66.
