Deval Patrick

Deval L. Patrick was born on July 31, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois. 

First black governor of Massachusetts

Deval Patrick was elected the 71st governor of Massachusetts in 2006, becoming the first black governor of the state. He was only the second black governor in U.S history. 

2020 Presidential Election

In November 2019, Patrick announced his run for president during the Democratic Primary, but later dropped out. 

Civil Rights Division

Patrick also served as U.S Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division in the U.S Department of Justice, during President Bill Clinton’s Administration in 1994.
