On July 7, 1906, Leroy “Satchel” Paige was born in Mobile, Alabama.
Leroy “Satchel” Paige was a professional pitcher. Paige dominated the Negro Leagues and the American League from the 1920-1970’s. During his baseball career, Paige made history as the first African American pitcher to pitch in a World Series game.
Leroy “Satchel” Paige died in 1982.
