Robert C. Henry becomes the first African American mayor

On January 3, 1966, Robert C. Henry became the first African American mayor. 

Robert. C. Henry was appointed as the mayor of Springfield, OH in 1996. He was appointed after serving on the Springfield City Commission for 10 years. He served one term from 1966-1968.
