On July 4, 1881 Booker T. Washington opened the Tuskegee Institute.
Booker T. Washington was a leader, activist and educator that advocated for the empowerment of black people. The Tuskegee Institute is one of Washington’s most notable accomplishments.
Tuskegee Institute is a historically black university (HBCU) located in Tuskegee, Alabama. Tuskegee Institute offers undergraduate and graduate programs to more than 3000 students. The university is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
