To celebrate National Black Business Month (NBBM) 2024, we curated our 3rd NBBM Series in partnership with HeavieTalk Media.

The 2024 NBBM Series featured interviews with a diverse lineup of Black-owned businesses in the United States. We had the privilege of speaking to each business’ founder(s) to discuss their origin story and the problem their company wants to solve.

Latania Franklin obtained her master’s degree in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago. Latania started her own practice, The Self Inside, in 2021. The Self Inside believes in fostering a space where black women can embark on a transformative journey towards healing.

Brittney McKenzie is the founder of Bcb Boobsbags LLC. Boobsbags is an undergarment laundering bag for women’s bras. Boobsbags has an unique hook and eyes attachment inside the bag to prevent tangling and damaged.

LayToya Carter

LayToya Carter is the proud Founder and CEO of Escents of Hue LLC. Through Escents of Hue, LayToya aims to inspire others to embrace the calming and rejuvenating benefits of high-quality, handcrafted soy candles.

Tenise Hordge

Tenise N. Hordge is the founder of Mother’s Magical Milk. Mother’s Magical Milk provides lactation education and services including lactation consultations, pre-natal breastfeeding consultations, and more.

La Tasha Bruner-Hill

La Tasha Bruner-Hill is founder, owner, and CEO of Abundance Health Care; where she partners with patients to create generational health and health equity. La Tasha’s approach to care is listening to the patient, understanding their health care needs and concerns, and collaborating with the patient to achieve their health care goals.

Jairus McNealy & Talicia McNealy

Jairus McNealy and Talicia McNealy are the co-founders of Victory Medical Alliance, LLC. Victory Medical Alliance is a trusted provider of comprehensive billing services and practice management solutions designed to meet the needs of independent medical and dental practices.

Savannah Jones

Savannah Jones founded Savannah’s Sweet Spa, a natural skin care business. Driven by her own experiences, Savannah created Savannah’s Sweet Spa to bring simple, affordable, and unforgettable skin care to everyone.

Kelly Morgan

Kelly Morgan is a healthcare advocate, published author, the co-founder of Nyumba, LLC, and multi-business owner who embodies the spirit of entrepreneurship. Nyumba, LLC is a proud women-owned, Black-owned e-commerce shop dedicated to transforming the way you store and transport food.

Reinalda Tafuto & Devon Brown

Devon Brown and her mother, Reinalda Tafuto, are the creative minds behind Brown Brownie, a brand that specializes in stationery and gift essentials. Through Reinalda’s passion for design and Devon’s marketing skills, Brown Brownie has become a beloved brand known for innovation, quality craftsmanship, and making a positive impact in the community.

Melissa Philippe

Melissa is a passionate Haitian entrepreneur, dedicated Afro-Indigenous midwife and birth keeper in the United States., and founder of Blissful Connections and Blissful Births. Together, these businesses strive to create a harmonious balance of physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness, fostering connections that uplift individuals and communities alike.

Leslie W. Jones

Leslie W. Jones is the founder of Mystique’s Creations LLC, a cottage bakery located in Houma, LA. She discovered a love for baking at an early age while baking with her mom. Mystique’s Creations turns old school sweets into gourmet treats when ordinary sweets just won’t do.
