To celebrate Black History Month 2023, TheBlack.Blog and HeavieTalk Media are presenting a Black Representation Matters Series. The series will highlight the importance of black representation in all aspects. This month-long series will feature interviews and a daily black history month themed narrated video series.

New interviews premiere every week. Plus, narrated videos are published daily to TheeBlackBlog Youtube channel highlighting black representation in all aspects, industries and facets.

Maya Dent

Maya Dent is a fitness coach, treatment advocate and the founder of The Journey LLC. Maya is a young and rising wellness coach whose aspirations are to continuously inspire, motivate, encourage, and spread the Gospel through physical activity. She is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University, where she developed a passion for health and wellness.

TheBlack.Blog spoke with Maya Dent, a fitness and treatment advocate, to discuss representation in the fitness industry.

Willie White III

Willie White III is a political science student and an ACE Scholar at Howard University. Willie is currently in his freshman year at Howard University. On campus, Willie serves as a Class Representative on the College of Arts & Sciences Freshman Council and a Political Action Committee Member for the NAACP. Through college, Willie hopes to garner a deeper understanding of his interests in public policy and international relations.

TheBlack.Blog spoke with Willie White III, a freshman political science student at Howard University, to discuss his HBCU experience.

Black History Month is the product of “Negro History Week” created in 1926 by Dr. Carter G Woodson.

Negro History Week was created by Dr. Carter G. Woodson in 1926. Negro History Week was created to highlight and emphasis the importance of African American history and culture.
