On August 15, 1843, Henry Highland Garnet delivered a speech at the National Negro Convention of 1843. 

The National Negro Convention was held in Buffalo, New York to discuss the abolitionist movement.

Many famous African American leaders attended the convention, including Frederick Douglas, Charles L. Remond, and William Wells Brown.
