Jesse Owens won his first Olympic gold medal at the 1936 Berlin Olympics

August 3

On August 3, 1936, Jesse Owens won his first Olympic gold medal at the Berlin Olympics.

Jesse Owens and the Berlin Olympics have always held historical significance, in large part due to Adolf Hitler’s and his history of racism and nazism.

People always thought Hitler snubbed Owens by not congratulating or acknowledging him at the Berlin Olympic Games.
