On May 31, 1921, the Tulsa Race Massacre started in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The Tulsa Race Massacre started after thousands of white people burned down homes and businesses in Greenwood, a predominantly black neighborhood. The area, known as ‘Black Wall Street’, was home to several businesses and homes. More than 1,250 homes were burned down during the Tulsa Massacre.
