On November 15, 1998, Kwame Ture, formerly known as Stokely Carmichael, died.
Kwame Ture was an influential civil rights activist and educator. He devoted his time to the SNCC, Black Panther Party and the Pan-Africanism movement. He worked with influential leaders like Martin Luther King.
Towards the end of his life, Kwame Ture moved to Guinea which eventually became his final resting place.
