On November 1, 1945, EBONY Magazine published its first issue. 

In 1945, EBONY magazine published its first issue. The Black magazine was founded by John H. Johnson. 

John H. Johnson is also the founder of JET Magazine, which was founded on the same day in 1951. Both magazines have served as a consistent voice for Black communities and families for decades.
