On July 20, 1954, Freeman Bosley Jr. was born. 

Freeman Bosley Jr. was the first African American mayor of St. Louis, Missouri. 

Freeman Bosley Jr. followed in his father’s footsteps by pursuing a career in politics. His father, Bosley Sr. served as an alderman before running for mayor in 1985. 

Despite his fathers failed efforts, Bosely Jr. was elected the mayor of St. Louis in 1993, becoming the first black mayor of the city. Along with advocating for crime reduction and better education, Bosley led the relocation efforts of the NFL Rams in the 1990’s. 

In 2014, Bosley faced some legal challenges that resulted in his law license being suspended until 2016.
