On July 2, 2015, Dexter D. Eure Sr. died.
Dexter D. Eure Sr. was the first black columnist for the Boston Globe.
Dexter D. Eure Sr. was a well respected and esteemed writer. Eure worked at the Boston Globe for more than 25 years, breaking color barriers along the way. He became the first black columnist at the Boston Globe, when he started the column, “Tell It Like It Is.”
Eure used the column to advocate for the black community, discussing issues related to lack of black representation in leadership positions within many industries. The impact of his work led to much success and praise within the Boston Globe and beyond the newspaper.
Dexter D. Eure Sr. retired from the Globe in 1988.
