On September 1, 1971, the Pittsburgh Pirates fielded the first all-Black lineup in MLB history in 1971. 

The historic game for the Pittsburgh Pirates happened during a game against the Philadelphia Phillies. At the time, the groundbreaking moment received no media coverage mainly due to Pittsburgh’s major newspapers being on strike.
