On March 27, 1934, Arthur Mitchell was born.
Arthur Mitchell was a ballet dancer and choreographer, famously known as the ‘Grandfather of Diversity.’ Arthur Mitchell was the first black dancer to join the New York City Ballet (1955). He co-founded the Dance Theatre of Harlem (1969).
Arthur Mitchell died in 2018 at the age of 84.
