On December 27, 1994, Marjorie Joyner died at the age of 98.
Marjorie Joyner was a well-known inventor, entrepreneur and beautician during the 1900s. In 1928, Joyner patented a wave machine that gave black women an easier and more efficient way to straighten their hair. Marjorie Joyner worked closely with other influential women like Madam C.J. Walker.
