On November 8, 1938, Crystal Bird Fauset was elected to the Philadelphia House of Representatives.
Crystal Bird Fauset was an influential educator and politician during the mid 1930’s. She pursued a career of public service which included working with the Young Women’s Christian Association and the Federal Housing Advisory Board.
In 1938, Crystal Bird Fauset was elected to the Philadelphia House of Representatives. She made history as the first black woman to ever be elected to a state legislature.
After years of public service, Fauset died in March 1965.
